Current city animal cruelty laws to help protect pets
We need your help for it to be enforced, please don't hesitate to report
Heat Laws
You are required by law to provide ample shade and access to cool water for your animal.

When a heat advisory is anticipated, you must provide a method for your animal to avoid overheating. items such as misting systems, air conditioners, and swamp coolers can be utilized.
​
NO animal is to be tethered during a heat advisory.
​
NO animal can be tethered, tied or restrained for more than 10 hours in a 24 hour period.
Spay/Neuter
It is required by law that dogs and cats over the age of 4 months be spayed or neutered.
Rabies
It is required for all dogs, cats and ferrets over the age of 4 months old to be vaccinated for rabies.
Breeding
It is against the law to breed your pet without a breeders permit. It is against the law to sell/rehome puppies without a business license.

Please check your jurisdiction laws as they may vary in terms of how many pets, age, etc once you are fully permitted and licensed.

It is against the law to breed pets in North Las Vegas.
​
Please keep in mind that our city is suffering from a dog over population crisis.
